The Constant Spring Sports Complex will be buzzing with excitement today when schoolboy football powerhouses Charlie Smith and Kingston College (KC) clash in the feature quarter-final game of the ISSA/Gatorade/Digicel Walker Cup competition, starting at 3 p.m.

In the opening match of the double-header, Bridgeport will battle Camperdown at 1 p.m. The Anthony Patrick-coached Bridgeport, who are unbeaten in this year's Manning Cup, are expected to get the better of their opponents. They have netted 24 goals, while conceding only five, on their way to winning Group G with 19 points. Camperdown, on the other hand, have also been having a relatively good season in the competition this year.

The Christopher Bender-coached team booked their spot in the Walker Cup, as the Group D's second-place team, after finishing second with 22 points, the same as winners Jamaica College. They have scored 25 times while conceding once.

The match between Charlie Smith and KC is expected to be a very exciting encounter as both teams enter the Walker Cup with unbeaten records in the Manning Cup.

The Jerome Waite-coached Charlie Smith finished atop Group C with 28 points. They have also been the most prolific team in the Manning Cup, as they netted 42 goals while conceding seven.

"We will have to come out and play some attractive football and may the best team win," said Waite.

"This KC team has done extremely well so far and that means that they have done some wonderful things this season."

Waite added that his team has also been doing well in the competition because they have been scoring goals and are looking to carry that over into the Walker Cup.

"We are confident and we just have to take it one step at a time because we haven't been playing to our full potential this season," Waite said.

Striker Michaelos Martin, who has netted 15 goals along with his captain Javoni Simms' 10 goals, will lead Charlie Smith's hunt for success. The pair are expected to receive support from teammates Omar Price, Andrew Allen and Vishinul Harris.

Waite's opposite number Trevor 'Jumpy' Harris said his team would be going all-out to win this year's Walker Cup trophy.

"We have not won anything in a long time and this is an opportunity for us to win something for the school for this year," said Harris.

"We are confident, but we just have to go and play as a team and I believe that once we are able to do that, then we should come out on top."

The North Street-based KC finished atop Group F with a maximum 24 points. They have netted 29 goals while conceding eight. National Under-20 representative Jamie Hyde, National Under-17 player Romario Williams along with Javaughn Samuels, who has netted eight goals this season, will lead KC's charge for victory.
