Father charged with son's death granted $1m bail

The father who has been charged with his two-year-old son's death was granted $1 million bail in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.

Christopher Soutar, who was last Thursday charged with manslaughter, is scheduled to return to court on January 10.

As part of his bail condition, he is to surrender his travel documents.

The toddler Christopher Soutar Jr was reportedly shot by a bullet fired from his father's licensed firearm two weeks ago at their home in Portmore, St Catherine.

The police have since seized the licensed firearm of the child's father.
