A Clarendon man charged with the offence of larceny by trick pleaded not guilty and was remanded in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday. He is 46-year-old Roy 'Cut Nose' Davis who will return to court on November 15 for trial. Allegations are that on Saturday June 18 the accused along with two accomplices visited the office of the complainant and offered to sell him US$6,700 in exchange for the Jamaican equivalent ($563,000). The court heard that upon completion of the transaction and when the men were long gone, the complainant realised that he had been fleeced of his money. The court heard that the accused had given the complainant a number of US$1 notes that did not add up to US$6,700. A report was made to the police and the accused was later picked up at the Black River lock-up where he was in custody for a similar offence. |
