Reggae Boy Ricardo Fuller is asking the public not to be too hard on the team who on Tuesday went down 2-1 to Honduras, in Honduras, their fifth straight international defeat.

According to Fuller, who is presently in the country recuperating from an Achilles tendon injury he picked up with English Premier League outfit Stoke City in February, the team is going through a process of rebuilding and renewal, and over time should get back to winning ways.

"The team is going through a process of new blood coming in, and such, it will take time before the team can gel, and put in performances worthy of winning matches," argued Fuller, who last played for Jamaica in a friendly international against Trinidad and Tobago last October.

"We (the public) must also take into consideration that the coaching staff is looking at new players, and players like Ricardo Gardner, Claude Davis, myself and others are not being featured right now, and as such we will not have our strongest team playing at all times, which will affect our results.

"But we are heading in the right direction, and once the coaching staff identifies the right cadre of players, we should start seeing the winning again, especially heading into next summer's start of the World Cup qualifiers," he added.

The Reggae Boyz, who are currently ranked 45th in the world, the third highest in the region behind Mexico (20th) and the United States (31st), have not recorded a victory since beating Honduras in the group stages of the CONCACAF Gold Cup in the summer.

Since then, in addition to Tuesday's defeat, they lost 2-0 to the United States, in the quarter-finals of the Gold Cup, 1-0 to China, 5-2 to Ecuador, 2-0 to Colombia, with the latter three being away matches.

Meanwhile, the 31-year-old Fuller, who is eyeing a return to competitive football by the end of November, says he is looking forward to overcoming his injury, and if again recalled to the national set-up again, he would love to improve on his goalscoring record.

In 53 appearances for the country Fuller has only been able to score six times.

"My goalscoring record for the country is not where I want it to be, but this is not entirely my fault as throughout my history of representing the country I have had to be struggling with injuries," said Fuller.

"This is not an excuse or anything, but it's clear that whenever I am fit and is able to play matches back-to-back and consistently, I can score a lot of goals, as has been the case with my club Stoke City in recent years."
