Men, women and jealousy

Dear Pastor,

To be sure, both men and women exhibit jealousy in different ways and for different reasons. For example, in the case of a man, jealousy has its roots in an emotional attachment and a sense of belonging. On the other hand, women are jealous for quite different reasons. For example, a woman, on average, will show jealousy over her man, based on some sense of security and whatever physical fulfilment of some needs, whether real or perceived, she gets from him.

Overall then, women are more likely to be more jealous of someone they don't love, in response to the emotional needs. On the contrary, men are more likely to be jealous in response to the sexual needs.

Well, love is not always there, but the attachment that keeps them together is what brings on the anxiety of separation and abandonment, which is exhibited as jealousy - the behavioural component which is displayed in violence or some other form of aggression. Jealousy has many links in evolution and biology of the sexes.

Thanks for the opportunity to share my views.
