With successful parties like Stir It Up and Rum Punch in Kingston, Desmond Steele has teamed up with Fyreworks Fly Society to start a party series called Ultimate Weekend in St Elizabeth. The weekend will start with Double Trouble at Miguel's Café tonight, and then there will be Ms Conduct at Chisholm's Retreat on Saturday and Ultimate Addiction at Chocolate Villa Guest House on Sunday. Steele explained that he teamed up with Fyreworks Fly Society (Jason Johnson and Ryan Campbell) and formed Ultimate Promotions with Thwait Hanson. Together, Ultimate Promotions and Fyreworks Fly Society decided to host the party weekend because they saw the need for an event of that nature in central Jamaica. "There's no Negril to go to and Ochi kinda scale down this year, so we decide to go ahead with a party of our own. This is the first one and we are not gonna stop. We are in it for the long haul," Steele told THE WEEKEND STAR. Already, he said the response has been good and his expectations are high. "We are expecting a big turnout 'cause the tickets are going very fast. They can't wait for it. The university students from that area aren't going anywhere else. My expectations are high for Ultimate Weekend," he said, adding that a cookout will be held today to feed the street people in Santa Cruz.
"Come next year, we might extend it to the Monday. This is the guinea pig event, so we are watching to see what happens. But we pulled out all the stops to make it a very good weekend. Our title sponsor JB Overproof Rum is also backing us a hundred per cent."
He noted that the event is also very affordable as the admission for Double Trouble and Ms Conduct will be $400 presold and $500 at the gate. As the only mixed drink inclusive party on the weekend, Ultimate Addiction will cost $800 presold and $1,000 at the gate. A weekend armband will also be available for $1,500.
Meanwhile, the energy and music for the weekend will be provided by selectors like DJ Smurf, King Ghetto Sound, Jacks International, Code Red Sound, ZJ Wahwa, DJ Sani, DJ Ariez, DJ Toxik, Coppershot Disco, ZJ Chrome, DJ Kentucky, Kingston All-Stars, Ratty & Bones and DJ Fresh.
