Innswood High School Manning Cup coach Milford Thomas is looking for his team to be ruthless when they entertain Edith Dalton James in their rescheduled ISSA/Gatorade/ Digicel Manning Cup Group E encounter today at Chedwin Park.

Innswood need to win by a huge margin to give themselves a realistic chance of overtaking Spanish Town for the second automatic qualifying spot in the group. Group leaders St George's College (22) have already secured their progress to the second round and wrapped up the Walker Cup spot.

Spanish Town currently occupy the other qualifying spot with 17 points and a goal difference of 16, while Innswood have 14 points with a goal difference of six. The group is completed by Tarrant (10), Meadowbroke (8) and the pointless Edith Dalton James.

"The aim is to win by scoring as many goals as possible," Thomas said.

"We want to get the goals early and eliminate any confidence from the opposing team," he added.

Thomas is looking for his team to win by at least a 10-goal margin, as they look to close the gap on Spanish Town in terms of both points and goal difference.

"It is not impossible because if you look at that team (Edith Dalton James), they have conceded a lot of goals," Thomas said.

"In the first leg, we scored eight goals at their home, so there is no reason why we can't add another five or six to that," he added.

Innswood's charge will be led by national Under-17 invitee and leading scorer Tavar Morgan who has netted 10 times. He will be supported by Danio Myers and Marshall March.

Edith Dalton James have scored five goals while conceding 39, but their coach Bobby McLaren will be looking for an improved showing from his team.

"We have been using an Under-16 team for the Manning Cup, as we are in a rebuilding phase," McLaren pointed out. "We may not have won, but we have improved in terms of the amount of goals conceded and what we are trying to do is at least get some points from any of the last three games that we have," he added.

In yesterday's lone Manning Cup game, Denham Town and last year's beaten finalists Waterford played to a dull nil-all draw in their Group B encounter at the Edward Seaga Sports Complex.

Waterford, who were reduced to 10 players in the 45th minute but held on for a draw, now only require a point from Saturday's home game against Campion to secure their place in the next round. Denham Town will have to secure a victory when they host group leaders Hydel in their Saturday encounter, while Waterford would have to falter in their fixture. Hydel which will be the group's Walker Cup representatives have 25 points followed by Waterford (16) and Denham Town (14). The group is closed out by Tivoli (12), Campion (three) and Papine (three).
