An illegal firearm and six rounds of ammunition were seized in Ironshore, Montego Bay, St James, on Tuesday.

THE STAR understands that a vendor and another man have been taken into custody in connection to the seizure.

The identities of the arrested men are being withheld pending further investigations.

According to the Coral Gardens police, about 4:30 p.m, a dispute developed between a vendor and some tenants on Red Birch Crescent in Ironshore when the vendor reportedly brandished a handgun.

The police were summoned.

It is reported that when the cops arrived they found the firearm - a Chrome Slot MKIV .45 pistol, bearing serial number SF23719, loaded with six .45 cartridges - which was hidden under a motor vehicle parked on the premises.
