Kendon Anderson netted a brace to lead St George's College (StGC) to a comfortable 5-1 victory over Tarrant High in their Group E encounter of the ISSA/Gatorade/Digicel Manning Cup match at Winchester Park yesterday.

The speedy and skilful Anderson scored his goals in the 24th and 70th minutes. National Under-17 representative Cardel Benbow (46th), Kareem Manning (48th) and Ryan Miller (66th) were the other goalscorers for StGC. Godfrey Francis scored the consolation goal for Tarrant in the 81st minute.

The win moved the Neville 'Bertis' Bell-coached StGC to 22 points and a place in this year's Walker Cup KO competition. They are followed by Spanish Town (17), Innswood (14) with a game in hand, Tarrant (10), Meadow-brook (eight) and Edith Dalton James (zero).

In the group's other games, Spanish Town beat Meadowbrook 2-0 and the match between Edith Dalton James and Innswood was rained out.

The 17-year-old Anderson, the team's leading scorer this season with nine goals, said he was satisfied with his performance. "I am very happy with my performance because I have been working very hard to be leading goalscorer in the Manning Cup this season," said Anderson.

"My aim this season is to win the Manning Cup and to score 25 goals in the competition," said Anderson, who represents Cavalier in the youth leagues.

StGC dominated the early exchanges and were rewarded when Anderson headed a Richard Garvey cross past goalkeeper Bradley Morris to give the North Street-based school a 1-0 half-time lead. Benbow doubled the Light Blues' lead a minute after the break, with a rasping 20-yard shot which went like a rocket past Morris.

Manning scored StGC's fourth goal of the match two minutes later when he fired home from close range. Miller wrapped up the game for StGC when he netted his team's fifth goal in the 66th minute.
