Five persons were shot and injured last night after gunmen went on the rampage in an area of Phase 2, Seaview Gardens, known as 'Nitty Gritty'. THE STAR was unable to obtain reasons for the shooting. However, police reports are that about minutes after 7 p.m. several persons were outside a house in the community when gunmen opened fire on them hitting the five persons. One person stated that she was just three minutes away from the gunfire when it happened. "Mi just came in from work, and hear the gunshots go off like a rocket. Then mi saw one man run by my house and couldn't even see which direction him guh." Another person, however, was unhappy with how the police were conducting themselves. "We know the police doing them job, but dem cah talk to people anyway. One man a comfort him sister and him a tell the man fi shut her up." Meanwhile, the injured were rushed to hospital but their conditions were unknown up to press time. The Seaview Gardens police are investigating. |
