Popcaan. - Winston Sill With a slew of songs playing on air, in the streets, and in the clubs, young deejay Popcaan is, without a doubt, making waves. In the upcoming weeks, the STAR of the Month says he has a number of songs that will be hitting the airwaves. The deejay says he has been busy in the studio making songs for producers such as UIM, Young Vybz, TJ Records, Headcon-cussion Music, and on and off for other popular producers. "Mi have nuff new songs coming out, including a brand-new collaboration with Kartel to be dropped on radio this week. The song is from Jamie Roberts on the 'So Bad' rhythm called Never Fear Dem. I also have a single on the rhythm called So Bad," he said recently. Other upcoming songs for the deejay include Pretty, a girl's song for TJ Records, and a collaboration coming soon with Tarrus Riley. For his many songs, the deejay says he is inspired by life, and in terms of songwriting, looks up to Vybz Kartel and Sizzla Kalonji.
He added, "In high school growing up, is always people like Kartel and Sizzla and nuff musicians before dem we look up to." According to Popcaan, he would love to do a song with Sizzla, when the time is right.
