Defending champions Jamaica College (JC) recorded an exciting 4-2 victory over Kingston Technical at Old Hope Road yesterday to maintain a two-point cushion over Camperdown in Group D of the ISSA/Gatorade/Digicel Manning Cup.

The Alfred Henry-coached JC were led to their victory by a brace from Nicholas Scott. Tevin Brown and Raheim Manning were the other goalscorers for JC. Kyle McLean and Devondre Grant scored the consolation goals for Kingston Technical.

In the group's other games, Camperdown beat Cumberland 2-1 and St Jago beat Pembroke Hall 2-1. JC lead the standings with 18 points. They are followed by Camperdown (16), St Jago (12), Pembroke Hall (six), Kingston Technical (five) and Camperdown (one).

Delroy Brown, assistant coach of JC, said he was happy with the three points, but stated that they have a lot of work to do in front of the goal.

"I think that we missed a lot of easy chances and the game could have ended up 10-0 in our favour," said Brown. "We ended up conceding two goals and that is bad for us because no team had scored two goals against us this season," he said.

Brown added: "I am happy with victory because we got three points and that is a plus for us, but when we get these opportunities to score a lot of goals, we have to take them."

Over in Group F, former champions Kingston College (KC) maintained their unbeaten run in this year's competition, with a 4-0 win over Donald Quarrie.

Javaughn Samuels scored a hat-trick for the Trevor 'Jumpy' Harris-coached team while Hyde got the other goal. KC, the first school to qualify for the Walker Cup competition lead their group with 18 points after six consecutive victories in this year's competition.
