Internet buzzes after artiste charged

News of deejay Vybz Kartel being charged with murder, conspiracy to murder and possession of an illegal firearm, spread quickly on social networking sites Facebook and Twitter last night.

Fans of the deejay were obviously in shock and distress over the predicament of the 'worl' boss'. On the Teacha's Pet facebook page persons were quick to question the fate of the deejay's reality dating show which started airing only two weeks ago. One person commented, "Unnu can continue Teacha's Pet from behind the bar cause me can't believe the show a done before it start."

Another person added, "Dem betta build one studio inna prison fi him voice some song same way doh awoh!!! worl boss."

One female fan added, "Mi nah lie still enuh mi love di world boss till death and a Gaza mi seh but mi feel seh him guilty a di murda charge but I hope he's not tho."

'free Kartel'

Cries of "free Kartel" were soon posted all over the internet, and even on person's BlackBerry messenger statuses, as they reacted to his imprisonment since Friday. One person added on Facebook, "Free up di man and guh lock up LA Lewis instead!" Another stated, "No sah a style dem a style mi artiste yuh know! Free Kartel me sey!"

On Twitter.com the topic of last night was without doubt Vybz Kartel. The reactions ranged from persons expressing sadness to some questioning the future of Dancehall music without the deejay and the future of his Portmore Empire.

Then there were those persons who were also quick to make mocking comments about the often controversial figure. There were some who referred to the artiste as the "prison pet" and "jail boss" and said; "Kartel don't drop di cake soap." Another added, "Thank God one less menace to society."

There was also a picture that was graphically changed to show Kartel in prison outfit and bearing the caption, 'teacha's cellmate'.

Others also mentioned that, "all jokes aside, innocent until proven guilty."
