Canadian officials are still trying to speedily deport 39-year-old Walford Uriah Steer for a second time, THE WEEKEND STAR has learnt.

The Jamaican man with 76 convictions is among Canada's most wanted criminals, and has been placed on an immigration hold.

Steer is to return to court for a bail hearing today.

If a judge agrees to stay the charges, Steer can be deported sometime next month.

He was arrested last month for allegedly trying to pimp a 16-year-old girl and charged with procuring for the purpose of prostitution, exercising control and living off the proceeds of prostitution.

Canada Border Services Agency officials are trying to stay his criminal charges in favour of a speedy deportation to Jamaica.

In 1999, Steer was deported but managed to re-enter Canada a year later allegedly using fake identification.

He filed a failed refugee claim as well as appeals to try and stay in Canada.

Steer was the subject of a nation-wide manhunt that ended after he and 31 other criminals had their identities posted online by Canadian authorities.
