The police are planning to continue to target prostitutes along the popular Port Henderson Road (Back Road) in St Catherine, after a major operation there yesterday.

Operation Officer for the St Catherine South Police Division, Superintendent Clive Blair, made the statement after the police arrested 33 persons in an operation along the road.

According to Blair, the aim of the operation was to target prostitutes, drug peddlers and minors.

He said that their illegal dealings are affecting the legitimate businesses that are operating in the area.

"We are going to continue the operation. The aim is to bring control to the strip," Blair said.

He said further investigation is being conducted in the matter.

The operation followed an article in The Sunday Gleaner which revealed that underage girls were being traded in the area.
