Woman steals from employer |

|
October 24 was the date set for sentencing in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday for a woman who stole monies amounting to $149,440 from her employer recently. Alitisha Brown is charged with larceny as a servant and will return to court on the said date when a social inquiry report is also to be provided. The court heard that the defendant was employed to Maxwill Financial Consultants Limited in the capacity of a support staff since August of this year. He was one of three employees entrusted with the key to the manager's office which allowed her to gain unsuspicious access to the same. Brown used the opportunity to use letterheads from the office to make transactions at the National Commercial Bank on Red Hills Road. Between September 9 and 19, she wrote letters to the bank for them to transfer monies to her account and other accounts of acquaintances. The complainant discovered the fraud when she visited the bank and realised that certain transactions on record were unfamiliar to her. The Fraud Squad was summoned and the defendant subsequently arrested. |
