Western Bureau:

Star striker Brian 'Rambo' Brown and national Under-19 player Anthony Walker both got hat-tricks yesterday as champions Rusea's High dismissed the challenge of Anchovy High School 8-0 in their Zone B ISSA/Gatorade/Digicel daCosta Cup game at the Colin Miller Complex in Lucea yesterday.

The unbeaten 'Russians' now have maximum 15 points from their five games, scoring 33 unanswered goals. Anchovy, who were losing for the second time in five games, are still handily placed in the standings on nine points.

"It was another pleasing performance by the boys so we can't complain," said Rusea's coach Anthony 'Follies' Williams.

For Brown, last season's golden boot winner and arguably the most feared striker in schoolboy football this year, it was his fifth goal in his last two games. The goals lifted his season tally to 13.

In another Zone B game, Frome Technical scored a big 5-0 win against Merlene Ottey to move to 12 points and second spot in the zone. Merlene Ottey lost for the fourth time and are on a mere three points.

Over in Zone A, 2008 champions St James High added another win to their impressive streak, clipping Muschett High 2-1 at Jarrett Park to maintain their stranglehold on the group, which they now lead with maximum 15 points from their five games.

disciplined display

In yet another disciplined display, the Gregory Palmer-coached St James sealed victory behind the prolific Jason Malcolm and the hard-working Oakley Jackson. St James High have now scored 13 goals with conceded five.

In another Zone A game, Spot Valley continued to advertise themselves as worthy contenders, clipping Green Pond High 2-1. Michael Shaw and Travis Dolphy were the players on target for Spot Valley. Christopher Reid got Green Pond's consolation goal.

Spot Valley have climbed to 10 points and are second in the group. Green Pond's defeat, their fourth in five games, leaves them with only the three points they took from Cornwall College in Saturday's surprise 4-1 win.

Yesterday's results

Zone A: Spot Valley 2 Green Pond 1; Irwin 2 William Knibb 2;

St James 2 Muschett 1.

Zone B: Rusea's 8 Anchovy 0; Frome 5 Merlene Ottey 0.
