Powell's bail extended

Joni Powell, the son of St Andrew businessman Patrick Powell, who is charged with the shooting death of 17-year-old Khajeel Mais had his bail extended until September 30 when he faced the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.

Powell is charged with assault occasioning grievous bodily harm emanating from an incident in 2009 which left a man paralysed.

It is alleged that on November 12, 2009, the 42-year-old complainant was walking near the home of the accused in Belgrade Loop, St Andrew, when he was attacked by Powell and three other men.

They reportedly hit him in the back with a stone which damaged his spine and left him paralysed.
