SOLJIE, GUARDIE RAPE DRUNK WOMAN?

Rasbert Turner, Star Writer

A soldier and a security guard who are accused of raping a woman they took on a date were granted $200,000 bail each in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court on Friday.

Corporal Gerard Cummings from Marlie Mount and security guard Christopher Harvey from Planters, both in St Catherine, are to return to court on January 26, when the matter will again be mentioned.

Allegations are that on August 31, the two accused and the complainant, who is acquainted with Harvey, went to a 'round robin session' in Old Harbour, St Catherine.

The court heard that they had a number of drinks. On their way back from the session the complainant reportedly passed out. It was further heard that instead of being taken home, she was taken to Harvey's house.

It is alleged that when she woke up in the wee hours of the morning, she found both men having sex with her.

A subsequent report was made to the Centre for Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse and following investigations, both men were arrested and charged.
