Fourteen arrested in police operation

Fourteen people were arrested and several items seized in an operation conducted in Montego Bay, St James, on Tuesday.

The operation, which was carried out in an effort to clamp down on the illegal lottery scam in Montego Bay, involved members of the Organised Crime Investigation Division (OCID), agents from the United States Immigration and Custom Enforcement, Postal Security and members of the Jamaica Customs Enforcement Team.

Several premises were searched, leading to the seizure of various documents and equipment which have been linked to the lottery scam.

Additionally, a quantity of marijuana and 17 pellets of hash oil wrapped in condoms were found. The team also seized more than US$3,000, laptops, cellular phones and motor vehicles, namely:

2012 white Mercedes-Benz

2007 Rav 4

1995 Toyota Corolla

2000 Nissan Sunny

Of the persons arrested in connection with the find, one is wanted for murder.

Their identities are being withheld pending further investigations.
