A British National who is accused of attempting to smuggle cocaine from the island to England was remanded in custody until September 26 in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday. Terrence Brown, 43, a construction worker of London, England, is charged with possession of, dealing in and attempting to export cocaine and conspiracy. Allegations are that on September 16 about 4:10 p.m, the defendant arrived at the Norman Manley International Airport to board a flight to Gatwick in England, when two suitcases that he had in his possession were searched by security personnel. The search of the luggage reportedly revealed among other things, several pairs of shoes and male clothing. A subsequent inspection of the base of each shoe revealed white powdery substance resembling cocaine wrapped in transparent plastic weighing five pounds and two ounces. The defendant was later arrested and charged. |
