Green Acres residents victims of frequent thefts

Rasbert Turner, STAR Writer

Some residents of the upscale community of Green Acres in St Catherine have found themselves to be victims of frequent thefts from their premises.

THE WEEKEND STAR was informed that within the last two weeks a number of houses have been broken into and items stolen.

"Just yesterday, them broke into my neighbour's house and stole even her food from out of her refrigerator," a concerned resident told THE WEEKEND STAR on Monday.

It was revealed that the culprit/s gained entry to the houses by removing locks mostly from the rear entrances. Upon entering the houses, they take DVD players, jewellery, cash, food items and anything they can move.

Two weeks ago, a resident returned and found that criminal/s ransacked her dwelling. She summoned the police who came to her premises and while the distraught owner was making a report, other neighbours observed they too have suffered.

"The place is rapidly becoming a haven for criminals. This as most persons are out in the daytime," a resident told THE WEEKEND STAR.

Meanwhile, the Spanish Town police have confirmed the break-ins. A senior personnel said plans are afoot to deal with the residents concerns.
