CURTIS CAMPBELL, STAR Writer
REGGAE DANCEHALL artiste Ghost has released his 7th studio album called Ghost Stories. The artiste says that this album will show the critics a different side to his musical talent because a good portion of the songs on the album are predominantly originals. According to Ghost, who has been on the music scene for more than a decade, his critics have limited him to being a cover artiste, and this album will prove them wrong. "This album is original and I'm gonna show the critics that I don't just do cover versions. So for those that are Ghost fans and those that aren't, this album is still for you," he said. The album was released on September 2 on iTunes and Amazon, and according to the singer, the sales are going well. "The CD dem a sell and I'm getting good reviews from the Ghost fans. They are saying a long time dem nuh hear from mi and dem miss mi music," he told THE WEEKEND STAR. Ghost's last album was released in Japan in 2010, and his most recent project was released in the United States where he has an ongoing tour. The artiste says that he is focused on the world and not just Jamaica. "I am just doing music for the entire world, Jamaica will catch up, as they normally do, but right not I'm focused on establishing myself as one of the greats like Beres, dem man deh duh dem own music that they write so that's the direction in which am heading right now. After my US tour I'm looking to do a Japan tour and a European tour," he said. The album Ghost Stories is released under Ghost's own record label, MS Music. However, several producers contributed to the final product, such as reggae artiste Christopher Martin, Kisko Hype, Fams House, Flava Squad and Ghost himself. The album has 11 original songs and six cover versions, plus one bonus track. According to the artiste, the quality of work highlights his coming of age. "I called this album Ghost Stories because it represents me as a writer, singer and musician, it's mature and positive, no profanity," he said. The artiste says that the new album is available for sale in stores as well as iTunes and Amazon music sites. He also said that he is grateful to the Jamaican audience for always supporting his music. "Give thanks to the Most High, the DJs who play my music whether I'm in Jamaica or not, and to the print media," he said. "Listen to the album, it's the baddest Ghost album ever, the youths just know sey education first and say no to drugs," he concluded. |
