Man sentenced for injuring daughter with wire

A man who used a piece of wire to injure his 13-year-old daughter was sentenced when he appeared in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.

He is Donovan Green who was sentenced to two years' probation with supervision.

Miller, who resides in Hampton Green, was charged with unlawful wounding.

Resident Magistrate Marcia Dunbar-Greene said Miller needed counselling and he would be sent to a parental workshop.

Dunbar-Greene's recommendations came after the teenager's mother told the court the latest beating was not the first.

Allegations are that the accused used a piece of wire to beat his daughter when she was five, while teaching her to read a clock.

It is also reported that on July 12, the accused beat his daughter with a belt but she ran from the house into the yard.

THE STAR understands that Miller, who had received reports from his daughter's school that she was being disruptive, used a piece of wire and inflicted wounds to the upper part of the girl's body.

The incident was reported to the police by the child's mother.
