LA Lewis remanded |

Dancehall personality L.A. Lewis, who is accused of defacing public property, was remanded when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday. L.A. Lewis, whose real name is Horace Lewis, will return to court today. In court yesterday, one of Lewis' attorneys, Coleen Lewis, said, "it is strange, however, that the NSWMA or the police cannot provide any evidence of L.A. Lewis recruiting persons for the charges of public." She also noted: "L.A. Lewis has been charged only for the areas with the PNP signs and not the JLP ones, making one think that this has gone into the political arena."
The allegations are that Lewis was charged the sum of $70,000 by the National Solid Waste Management Authority for defacing public spaces in seven spaces in the Corporate Area.
The Resident Magistrate (RM) Judith Pusey was far from amused that Lewis missed his court date.
RM Pusey said, "Don't think that I will allow this court to become a high drama area for entertainment."
Lewis' other attorney, Charles Ganga-Singh, argued that the investigating officer did not serve the summons on Lewis properly.
However, this was denied by the investigating officer. |
