Mystery illness affects 13 students |

|
Crystal Harrison, STAR Writer It was a chaotic scene at the Buff Bay High School in Portland yesterday after a number of students reportedly fell ill due to a mystery illness. THE STAR understands that the incident sparked jitters among staff and students at the school which is headed by immediate past president of the Jamaica Teachers' Association, Nadine Molloy Young. It is reported that about 1 p.m., several students fainted while in class and had to be rushed to the Annotto Bay Hospital for immediate treatment. Initially, it was reported that about three students were affected by the mystery illness. However, THE STAR understands that about 13 students had to seek medical attention. There has also been no word on the status of the affected students. Efforts made by THE STAR to speak with an official from the school and/or the Ministry of Health proved futile. |
