'The Biggest Raga Dancehall Anthems' reflects the dominance of few artistes in the populated music industry.

One of the latest compilation CDs from VP Records, The Biggest Raga Dancehall Anthems consists of 15 tracks dubbed the best and brightest of this year. While consisting of 15 tracks, the CD features only nine artistes, reflecting the dominance of few artistes to produce 'dancehall anthems'. Dominating the album is Mavado with four songs, Vybz Kartel; Assassin and Chino, with two each, alongside Bounty Killer; Stephen 'Di Genius' McGregor; I-Octane; Chan Dizzy and the only female act, Queen Ifrica, with a song apiece.

Mavado has a strong representation on the album, showing off the various sides of his music. From the popular Star Bwoy to the easy-going Lost Them on the 'Bad Acid' rhythm to two DASECA produced hits - When You Feel Lonely, for the girls, and the conscious Don't Wanna Be A Memory. Of the four, only two were released in 2011.3

Assassin shows his lyrical prowess in songs Run Di Place and Nothing At All, the second song on the album from the popular 'Peppa' rhythm, the other being Stephen McGregor's own girl friendly Bounce A Gal. Chan Dizzy represents as the newest act on the album with his Hello Badmind released at the beginning of this year and representing a strong follow-up single for him. I-Octane dominated 2010 with a slew of hits, among them Mine Who Yuh A Diss, which was released in that year.

Big Ship's Chino represents on the album, as well, with two songs from his latest album. Ruff It Up, which is popular with the girls, was released a while back, and the conscious God Nah Sleep giving listeners who haven't copped the album, a feel of his newer hits. The song speaks about real-life situations and cautions listeners that 'God nah sleep'. Queen Ifrica's Pot Still Haffi Bubble is the most reggae-oriented song on the album, as she urges persons to keep on working hard.

Overall, The Biggest Raga Dancehall Anthems 2011 consists of popular dancehall songs throughout last year from some of the more consistent artistes in the business.
