Assistant coach remanded for robbery rap

The 46-year-old assistant coach of the Jamaica Swim Team was remanded in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.M.

He is Nathan Brown who has been charged in connection with last month's robbery of more than $2.5 million from Empire Supermarket in Cross Roads, St Andrew.

Brown is to return to court on September 13, when his attorney is expected to apply for bail.

The charges include robbery with aggravation, illegal possession of firearm, and shooting with intent.

Allegations are that on August 27, two men, one armed with a gun, entered Empire Supermarket and robbed the establishment.

It is reported that the men escaped on a motorbike.

The Police intercepted the bike at the intersection of Lyndhurst Road and Beechwood Avenue.

It is reported that Brown was held, and cash amounting to $2.6 million was allegedly taken from him.

The other suspect reportedly escaped with the firearm.
