Residents protest over poor road conditions |

Rasbert Turner, Star Writer Residents of Glengoffe and surrounding communities were left suffering some inconvenience on Friday after other person in the area blocked the roads in protest over poor road conditions in the area. When The Star went to the Cassava River community, scores of placard bearing residents were seen venting their disgust with the roads in the community. "We need for the road to be fix as in recent time my daughter expressed fear she don't want to attend school due to the the road," Marcia said conditions worsened, Her views was echoed by a number of residents who said that since the passage of Tropical Storm Nicole, the road has worsened. "The road is a hindrance to the growth of the community as not even the police can operate effectively due to the road condition, " Roosevelt Lawrence, a resident said. The Star was shown a section of the road that was badly eroded. It was even more revealing to see vehicles taking the dangerous trek. It was revealed that the corridor was the major thoroughfare in and out of the St Catherine community. A visible police presence was maintained throughout. |
