Man pleads guilty to fraud |

|
A self-employed man accused of trying to use a forged bank statement to bail a man charged with murder, pleaded guilty and was remanded when he appeared in court yesterday. Forty-year-old Mark Johnson from Blake Road, Kingston who is charged with forgery, uttering and conspiracy will return to the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's (RM) Court on September 27 for sentencing. RM Georgiana Fraser ordered that the accused man's records be provided to the court when he returns. Allegations are that on August 31, the accused visited the Corporate Area courts office and presented a BNS bank statement for the purpose of bailing Vincent Anthony Johnson who was granted bail at a sum of $500,000. After checks were made it was found that the statement was forged. The police were alerted and Johnson arrested When asked if he knew the person he was standing surety for he said, "I know his mother your honour." |
