Fool for Christ and proud of it

George Henry - Janet Roberts-Bowen

GEORGE HENRY, STAR Writer

Janet Roberts-Bowen is a self-professed fool for Christ and she is proud of it. If you ask, she will be the first to admit that she took on the title after she sold out for Jesus and all things that concern him. She believes strongly that her calling is to serve the Master.

"My calling is to serve Him and to be there full in His presence to do His will and to help others to reach the same level," said the associate pastor.

Janet Roberts-Bowen is an associate pastor at the Church of God Worldwide Mission Freedom Fellowship, at Providence in Manchester. She also serves currently as general secretary for her denomination, which has four branches in Jamaica

The woman of God said she is convinced that based on the word of God, she has no need to worry about the future, because she is aware that only God knows what is in store.

"I am convinced that God is in charge, because any ordinary man looking around us can observe creation and think about the plan that was put in place to bring all of this to life in order. We can look at the sea which He has created; it (sea) is there and it does not take over the land, the sun comes up routinely every day whether we want it to or not; it goes back down in the evening and we have the wind," said Roberts-Bowen.

She added that God gave man a heart, and it never stops beating no matter how old we become and for this reason the church general secretary said, God is at work.

burning desire

"I am called by God to do His will. I am sure that this is so because of the kind of genuine burning desire which I have to serve. If He was not calling me to serve, I do not think I would have been so pushed to do the things that I do without being paid, but moving forward daily to accomplish work for the Kingdom," said the church leader.

Roberts-Bowen confessed that although she has been doing a lot for the Lord, there is room for improvement. She explained that her job, family and studies have all impacted on the amount of work she wants to do for God.

The mother of Floyd, Carey, Shemar and Shari-Fay is married to Reverend Samuel Bowen. She said her favourite Bible verse is St John 3 verse 16, which says 'For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life'.
