Two new players in West Indies Under-19 squad

ST JOHN'S, Antigua (CMC):

Two new players have been called up to the West Indies Under-19 squad for the Quadrangular series in India, starting at month-end.

Trinidadian Emmanuel Lett and Akeal Hosein, who impressed during the recent youth tournament in Guyana, were yesterday named in a 15-man squad to be led by Barbadian Kraigg Brathwaite.

The right-handed Lett slammed a tournament-high 187 retired hurt against the Leeward Islands in the three-day phase while Hosein, also a left-hander, was also consistent with the bat and his useful off-spin.

Aggressive Jamaican opener John Campbell has been included in the squad that includes all-rounder Donovan Nelson and impressive Windward Islands all-rounder Kavem Hodge.

Marquino Mindley, Bryan Gayle, Chanderpaul Hemraj and Larry Edwards, who were part of the 19-man training squad in Barbados recently, missed out on the trip.

West Indies Under-19s will play against hosts India, Sri Lanka and Australia in the tournament that runs from September 27 to October 9.
