Rasbert Turner, STAR Writer The St Catherine North police said that effective measures would be put in place to deal with criminals who are said to be targeting females. This was revealed by Inspector Michael Walker from the Spanish Town police during the general meeting of the St Catherine Parish Council in Spanish Town yesterday. "Now that we are aware of the problem, it will be given priority attention when I report to my superiors," Walker told the councillors.
Walker told the councillors that while the police try their best to serve the residents, there is a need for constant community support.
He was responding to a complain made by Councillor Theresa Turner of the Hampton Green division.
"Two women from my division were taken away by men driving 'robot' taxi. They were taken to from Burke Road to Hartlands where they were robbed and stabbed up by these men," Turner said.
The councillor told the policemen and others at the meeting that attention needs to be given urgently or others will suffer.
In the meantime, the police were commended for work in the division and other areas of St Catherine. |
