Escapee remanded for sentencing

A teenager who escaped from the Portmore Police Station in St Catherine pleaded guilty to escaping custody and was remanded for sentencing on Tuesday.

He is Ramone Theophilus Williams, 18-year-old labourer of Greater Portmore, St Catherine.

When Williams appeared before Resident Magistrate Marcia Dunbar-Green in the Spanish Town RM Court ,he said he was also guilty of committing simple larceny.

Detective Constable Phillip Mullings of the St Catherine South police outlined that the accused was recaptured in 2 East Portmore two days after escaping.

The court heard that Williams was in custody on a charge of simple larceny, but escaped after being let out to use the bathroom at the lock-ups.

It was revealed that further investigations were undeway as he had committed other offences while on the run. He is to be sentenced on October 25.
