A security guard who was recently nabbed by the police in connection with the alleged theft of thousands of dollars worth of shoes from a Corporate Area branch of the Payless shoe store pleaded guilty and was granted $100,000 bail in court yesterday. The accused, Elton Tucker, appeared before Resident Magistrate Georgiana Fraser and was granted bail on condition that he reports to the Admiral Town Police Station every Wednesday between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. He is to return to court on September 23 for sentencing at which time his records are to be presented to the court. Allegations are that the security guard was arrested following several operations conducted by the Flying Squad. Nineteen pairs of shoes valued at more than $80,000 were recovered in the operations. The police conducted the raids after the management of Payless reported that shoes valued at millions of Jamaican dollars had been stolen from the store. The security guard was an employee to the store. |
