Al Miller's trial adjourned

The firearm trial of popular clergyman Reverend Al Miller has been adjourned until September 8.

Miller's firearm trial was further delayed in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's (RM) Court yesterday as the presiding judge RM Lorna-Shelly-Williams had to accommodate other matters originally listed to be heard in other courtrooms which brought about a time constraint.

Miller is out on $100,000 bail.

He has been charged with negligence causing the loss/theft of his licensed firearm.

Allegations are that on January 21, about 6:30 p.m., Miller was on a school compound in the Shortwood area picking plums with his 30-year-old daughter. He reportedly left his black pouch containing his licensed firearm, a .38 revolver, and some cash on the floor of his vehicle.

It is alleged that after Miller and his daughter arrived home he discovered that the pouch was missing with the firearm and its other contents.

The matter was reported to the Constant Spring Police Station.
