Jamaicans arrested in Bahamas for drugs

Two Jamaican men have been arrested in The Bahamas in connection with the discovery of $25,000 worth of illegal drugs, THE STAR has learnt.

The men whose names have not been released are aged 26 and 28.

According to a report in The Tribune, on Thursday, September 1, around 4.20 p.m., officers of the Drug Enforcement Unit were on patrol in the area of Silver Point, near the canal, when they apprehended the men.

The men were taken into custody along with two backpacks containing 12.5lb and 10.5lb of marijuana, respectively.

Assistant Superintendent Loretta Mackey said investigations are continuing into the matter.
