'Venting' Afterwork jam

Letting loose on the dance floor.

Upcoming promoter Sheldon Taylor, of the weekly Friday night event Afterwork Vent, held at Club Impulse in New Kingston, said he's pleased with the support he has been receiving after another night of non-stop fun and frolic.

The event, which began in April, has grown steadily over the months as patrons are guaranteed a sure vibe upon entering the club until their departure. This, according to Taylor, has contributed to the attention the event has been receiving.

"The event has come a far way. From just 10 people to 300, and on an average, we have about 250 patrons inside the club coming to a sure vibe at the start to finish," said Taylor.

Taylor added that the ever-friendly atmosphere is also one of the event's main attractions. "The difference is that we offer a calmer and more secure spot for people to vent their stress after a weeklong hard-work experience," he said.

At Friday night's event, the finale of an energy-packed Summer Escape series, there were many happenings which justified the claims of the promoter as the experience was just electrifying. Patrons depicted an image of camaraderie as Club Impulse's resident disc jockey, DJ Marlon, spun hit songs one after the other.

The occasion also served as a birthday celebration for fast-rising sound system Kingston All Stars, which was in a glorious mood after seeing off three successful years in a very competitive industry. The birthday boys played superbly and had patrons dancing non-stop to songs like Beenie Man's Let Him Go, Mr Vegas' Heads High, and several others.

Other worthy performers were DJs Johnny Kool and Flabba. "We see a lot of encouragement. We are going from strength to strength and I believe this event will go a far way," said Taylor.
