What a easy give-up!

Jackass sey de worl' no level. Jackass sey look ow people march an block an barricade an bleed an tek all boomin' fe de Dads an dem im gi up so easy easy!

Jah know the world is not level at all, at all, at all. Dem sey de hotta be bakkle a de sweeta de vicktri, but afta dat de rahtid bakkle las' year Labour Day; afta so much people whe did waan dweet an' some whe jus coulden afford fi lef dem yard put dem neck pan de line; afta so much slogan write up on wall; afta so much people a war seh a not 70 hodd ded inna de 'Hincurshan' but closa to 200; afta de whole country lock dung an foreign press come dung.

Afta hall a dat, a one guilty plea come outta it? No sah, dis ya cyaa real!!!

At the moment in Libya, the rebel forces in Libya (well, can almost make that former rebels as the Gaddafi government of over 40 years is gone and the rebels are now the authorities - which can be a darned dangerous transition) are holding off on an attack on Gaddafi's last major stronghold. Ever since it became clear that he was on his way out, there have been calls for him to step down and avoid further unnecessary bloodshed.

surrender or leave

It is a standard call when regimes are clearly on the verge of being ousted that the person who heads up the losing side call it a day publicly and either surrender or leave the country, so that the persons fighting for them will see that the cause is irrevocably lost and lay down arms. This will prevent a massacre of the diehard loyalists and prevent the kernel of enduring bad blood which can - and often does - result in another round of killings in the future.

There is nothing to motivate the defeated to try again like the memory of a valiant, futile last stand of their colleagues, which ended in wholesale slaughter.

But the big man did not give in at the point where the bloodshed seemed inevitable last year, did he? And only a total mad person would not have known beforehand in Tivoli Gardens if the gunmen did not stand down. It was clear from before the first shot was fired that the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) was not only going to 'tun ova' the defenders of the don, but mash dem dung bad, bad, bad.

And that is exactly what happened.

a simple guilty plea

And now, with a simple guilty plea, the man a community sacrificed itself for - willingly or unwillingly - has taken the easy way out. A maximum of 23 years in US prison, which Jackass has no doubt is rough but in no way comparable to the prison facilities in Jamaica, chances are with time off good behaviour and these things and early parole.

Then deportation to Jamaica to (Jackass can predict with almost as much certainty as a forecast of Bolt beating Blake the next time they meet in a 100m race), a decent standard of living in Jamaica. Hell, this is reading like Vivian Blake's back-to-Jamaica-and-die-peacefully story.

There is just one question Jackass would love a pollster to go through 'Garden' and get feedback to: Was it worth it?

Jackass sey de worl' no level. Jackass sey from him born him nuh support no don, no deejay, no politician, no leader, 'cause dem always criss wen dem followas done get jook!
