Rodwood United claim second U-17 title

Rodwood United claimed their second hold on the U-17 title, after they outclassed first-time finalist Bridgeport 5-0 in the Pines Imaging Centre-sponsored Portmore Football League at the Ferdie Neita Park last Saturday.

In a one-sided affair, Rodwood got their goals through Shane Watson, who scored a brace, while goalie Steven Bowes scored from the penalty spot. Dwayne Henry and Chevaughn Walcott also netted for the Waterford-based club.

Floyd Coke, head coach of Rodwood, said he expected a more competitive game. "Being a final, I expected Bridgeport to make a match of it, but after we scored our second goal, it seemed as if they gave up and we took full control of the match and won easily."

At the end of the match, Welsford Sinclair, managing director of Pines Imaging Centre, handed over the championship trophy.
