Cashier pleads not guilty to larceny

A female cashier who denied stealing two separate sums of $15,000 from her employer only days apart made partial restitution of $10,000 in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.

Jody-Ann Bryan pleaded not guilty to larceny as a servant but agreed to make restitution nonetheless, as her attorney told the court that her client had accepted responsibility as she had left the cash register unattended to use the restroom on the day of the incident.

Bryan, who had to submit her fingerprints to the police, is to return to court on September 15 when the outstanding amount is expected to be paid over to the complainant.

The Crown is alleging that while the defendant was a cashier at a wholesale, she allegedly stole $15,000 from her employer on August 23 before stealing another portion of money in the same amount on August 25.
