The police in St Elizabeth are now investigating a robbery that left a cashier at a supermarket in the parish dead on Tuesday night.

She is Michelle West, 50, of Reading Road, Lacovia.

THE STAR understands that the incident occurred shortly before 9 p.m., while the Diamond Plus Supermarket was preparing to close.

According to reports, two masked men carrying guns entered the establishment and demanded money from the cashier. Explosions were heard and West was later found slumped over her cash register with a wound to the chest.

THE STAR understands that she died on the spot and the gunmen escaped on foot with an undetermined sum of money.
