Dominica names experienced squad

ROSEAU, Dominica (CMC):

Dominica football authorities have named a 24-man squad for next month's World Cup qualifier against Nicaragua at the Windsor Park Sports Stadium next month.

The unit, which was selected earlier this week, will be led by goalkeeper Glenson Prince with prolific goalscorer, Kurlson Benjamin as his deputy.

National Under-23 captain Glensworth Elizee is also in the party but former captains Wayne George and Collin Bernard have been omitted.

The team boasts a number of players who have represented the island at that level before with Benjamin, along with Michel Joseph, expected to provide firepower up front.

Macaza White, Calvin Christopher, Elmond Derrick and Prince Austrie will marshall the defense with the midfield to be controlled by Lester Langlais, with support from Chad Bertrand.

Dominica will compete in Group C of the qualifiers along with Panama, with their fixture against Nicaragua scheduled for September 2.
