General Accident honours Fowler

Jhaniele Fowler

General Accident presented an Award of Excellence to Jhaniele Fowler, ace goalscorer for the Sunshine Girls, in recognition of her outstanding performance at the recent World Netball Championships (WNC) 2011 in Singapore.

Fowler ended with a top goal conversation rate of 89 per cent, having scored 206 out of 229 chances at the WNC, which took place from July 3-10.

While presenting the trophy to Fowler on Monday, managing director of General Accident, Sharon Donaldson, a former president of the Jamaica Netball Association, said her company wanted to honour the Sunshine Girl for her outstanding achievement.

Donaldson said the 6' 5" Jamaican goal shooter had a comparable performance with the dominant netball goal shooters from the national teams of Australia, New Zealand and England.

"You are, indeed, a superior lady as your performance is close behind top shooter Irene Van Dyke of New Zealand, whose average conversion rate over the 16 years since she has been playing at the international level is 93 per cent," Donaldson observed.
