Woman remanded for reportedly selling $500,000 Canadian visa

A woman who reportedly collected $500,000 as payment to provide a Canadian visa for a man was remanded when she appeared in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.

She is Sasha Grant, labourer of Keystone, St Catherine..

She was ordered remanded until September 27 by Resident Magistrate Simone Wolfe-Reece.

When Grant appeared on Tuesday, she pleaded not guilty to the charges of obtaining money by means of false pretence.

Clerk of Court Natalya Heywood-Blake outlined that between June to October last year, the money was paid to the accused.

Despite numerous attempts to get back the money, the accused could give no proper answer about the money.

As a result, a report was made to the Spanish Town police.

An investigation was launched which resulted in the arrest and charge of Grant..

The court was also informed that the accused is being investigated for other fraud charges.
