Father and son in Highway 2000 crash identified

The father and son who died in the traffic crash on the St Catherine leg of Highway 2000 on Monday night have been identified.

They are Delmar Sherriffe and his nine-year old son Jamie.

Meanwhile, his wife and 11-year-old son, who were also in the vehicle, have been hospitalised.

It is reported that sometime after 7 p.m., a Suzuki Vitara and a delivery truck were travelling in the same direction when the truck tyres blew out and the vehicle slammed into the Vitara.

It is further reported that the Vitara spun out of control and overturned.

THE STAR understands that Sherriffe and Jamie, along with two other passengers, including another of Sherriffe's sons sustained injuries.

Sherriffe died on the spot while Jamie was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The other injured persons were admitted.

In the meantime, the driver of the delivery truck, who reportedly fled the scene, is being sought by the police.

The Old Harbour police are investigating.
