Teen held with illegal gun |

Rasbert Turner, Star Writer A teenager is now facing charges of breaches of the Firearms Act after he was held with an illegal gun in Portmore, St Catherine, yesterday. Charged with illegal possession of firearm and ammunition is Mike Newell, 19-year-old of Portmore. Reports reaching THE STAR are that about 7 a.m., a police party on patrol saw Newell with a bag in Watson Grove. His actions aroused the suspicion of the police and he was accosted. He was searched and a 9mm pistol with six live rounds was found in his possession. Newell was subsequently charged and is booked to appear in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court on August 30. |
