Mango thief sent to prison

A construction worker caught stealing 16 mangoes from a man's yard, was sentenced to 30 days' imprisonment at hard labour when he appeared in court on Friday.

The accused, Cory McLean, 39, from a Kingston 8 address, pleaded guilty and was sentenced by Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey.

Allegations are that on Saturday, August 13, about 11 a.m., the complainant was at his home when he saw the accused in his neighbour's mango tree.

The accused was subsequently accosted by the complainant and taken to the police station where he was arrested and charged with praedial larceny.
