The scenic beauty of Caymanas Golf and Country Club in St Catherine was the setting for the wedding ceremony of Shanile Anderson and Lyndon Edwards on Saturday, August 13, 2011. The couple who are teachers at Southboro Primary School in Portmore, St Catherine, solemnly repeated their marriage vows before the Reverend Franklyn Smith and a host of witnesses before being pronounced husband and wife. It was a simple yet elegant affair for the couple and their many well-wishers. Guests braved the heavy downpour, which at one stage threatened to set back the proceedings, to witness the nuptials of these young educators. The beaming bride was escorted down the aisle by her father, Ishmael Anderson, as the groom, clad in a dark tuxedo waited anxiously.
The bride looked radiant and resplendent, and was decked out in a flowing white wedding gown with a seven-foot train. Nahshun Smith served as the groom's best man, while the bride's maid of honour was Jacqueline Archibald.
The reception which followed shortly afterwards was emceed by the witty Ryan Dixon who had the guests in stitches for much of the evening. The toast to the brides' parents, Jannett Landell and Ishmael Anderson, was given by Elgin Taylor who lauded them for the upbringing of their daughter, and the excellent manner in which she was presented on her big day. The groom's parents, Festus Edwards and Sandra Edwards were toasted by Bridgette Pinto who spoke to the close family bond and adherence to Christian principles, which she said were hallmarks of the Edwards, and which had rubbed off on their son.
Toasts to the bride and groom were tendered by the maid of honour and best man respectively. The bride was described as humble, hardworking, honest, loving and a person who would make a wonderful wife. The groom on the other hand was characterised as being someone who was dedicated and trustworthy. Both were also hailed as persons who were caring and fun loving.
The groom in his reply on behalf of his beautiful wife said it was truly an honour to have everyone celebrate with them on this momentous occasion. He spoke in particular to the support of family and friends. He stated that they felt truly appreciative and blessed and asked to be remembered in their prayers.
The rains subsided leaving a cool atmosphere in its wake, which was appreciated by the guests which
numbered around 90. They comprised family members, co-workers, friends and other well-wishers.
