AN OLD WOMAN accused of throwing hot liquid in the face of her complainant pleaded not guilty before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Wednesday. The accused, Carolyn Dawkins from Gold Street, Kingston, will return to court on October 13 for mentioning as the file is still incomplete. The allegations reveal that the complainant was involved the dispute with the accused and three other women. It is alleged that the accused took a cup filled with hot liquid and threw it into the face of the complainant causing burns to her eyes. The dispute started after an argument between the complainant and a woman whom she confronted as the woman was cursing outside her gate and she went to find out what was the matter. The complainant allegedly was trying to quell the argument However, while she was doing this, a woman known as 'Me One' intervened in the argument accusing the complainant of wanting to fight one of the women. The court heard that immediately the complainant told the accused "I'm not speaking to you", after which the accused took a hot cup of tea from a nearby woman and threw it on the accused which caused the visible burns from pictures provided for the resident magistrate. The complainant was treated at the Kingston Public Hospital. |
